Spirited Union presents a new take on experimental cask finishing, by pre-conditioning barrels with botanicals used for the final cask finish in Amsterdam. This enhances the rich character of the rum, using an evolving botanical cask finish.
The Process
A tropically aged single origin rum is selected based on its flavour profile and finish. At the distillery in Amsterdam, oak barrels are pre-conditioned by steeping botanicals for weeks. The botanical tincture is then removed and used for our regular range (we don’t like waste). The pre-conditioned barrels are filled with our Colombian barrel aged blend to give it a delicate and refined cask.

TASTING NOTES
Colour: Dark gold and amber
Nose: Upon pouring, you will discover coffee notes on the
nose. In these notes you can already find the different layers of depth. Each layer represents a taste journey of this unique liquid. Taste: Before the coffee and tropical notes are released, you are gently greeted by a soft wood aroma, which fades away and leaves a filmy liquid on your palette. What remains is the elegant and subtle coffee twist created by our botanical barrel, sit back and enjoy these lingering flavors before they wander.
